Research Summary

We study the molecular mechanisms of how plants and algae protect the photosynthetic machinery from photoinhibition, the damages caused by extreme high light (photoinhibition).

We also study the molecular mechanism of RNA polyadenylation and degradation in different organisms including prokaryotes, archaea, chloroplast, human mitochondria and nuclear encoded RNA; the mechanism of post-transcriptional regulation of mRNA stability; RNA maturation and interaction on mRNA with proteins; control of gene expression in the chloroplast and human mitochondria.

We also study the control of gene expression in the chloroplast. Mainly at the level of RNA metabolism, how the RNA half-life is determined and the molecular mechanisms of polyadenylation and degradation.
