Summer Research Program in Biology

RESEARCH PROJECTS IN BIOLOGY: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER 2024

In light of the previous year’s accomplishments, we are thrilled to announce the forthcoming launch of the 2024 Summer Research Program in Science and Engineering which will take place at the Technion between the 1st of July and the 1st of August 2024.
students will have the opportunity to conduct a research project with a professor at the Faculty of Biology.

This program is tailored for exceptional, proactive students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs encompassing Life Sciences, Biology, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Bioinformatics. Ideal candidates should be nearing the conclusion of their undergraduate studies, typically at the end of their second or third year.

Handpicked participants will embark on a month-long research venture, immersed in state-of-the-art laboratories and guided personally by our esteemed faculty members at Technion. Here, you’ll thrive in a stimulating academic environment, enriched by cutting-edge research and a vibrant campus atmosphere.

To enhance your experience, we provide :

  1. On-campus housing
  2. Cover registration, and administrative fees
  3. Enriching cultural experiences within the country, including trips to cultural hubs, social activities, and a summer party.

“The program’s standout feature is the unique opportunity to collaborate with young scientists from across the globe, fostering scientific exchange, future research partnerships, idea sharing, and personal mentoring by our faculty’s top researchers”.

Embark on a Remarkable Research Journey in Biology

A Research Project in Biology is a transformative experience that bridges the gap between undergraduate and graduate-level research. As you dive into this course, you’ll step into the dynamic world of cutting-edge laboratories, gaining invaluable hands-on experience.

Throughout the program, you will become an integral part of an active research lab, working closely with a senior graduate student and the lab’s Principal Investigator (PI). You will acquire the skills to plan and conduct experiments, troubleshoot challenges, synthesize data, and actively engage in lab meetings.

Your journey culminates with a brief seminar presentation, showcasing your project’s findings to your peers, followed by the submission of a comprehensive project report by August 31, 2024.

The grading process is based on the assessment of the hosting lab’s PI, ensuring that you receive expert feedback and guidance. This intensive research course is a unique opportunity to propel your academic career and is 4 academic credit significant milestone on your academic journey.

Upon receiving your transcript from the Technion, please verify its equivalence with your home university’s academic credit system. Ensure alignment between the academic credits awarded by the Technion for the program and your university’s recognition. Should any discrepancies or issues arise, and your home university does not acknowledge the same credit points, kindly reach out to us for prompt resolution.

Application Instructions

We encourage all applicants to contact faculty members whose research projects align with their interests.  The Faculty of Biology offers a variety of research fields. To simplify your search for an exciting research project, we have organized these research fields into six main clusters that reflect the Faculty’s research activities. These clusters are designed to help you navigate through the various research opportunities available.

Clicking on any cluster will direct you to a list of related laboratories and faculty members associated with that specific cluster.
We invite you to explore the different clusters and select a project that resonates with your passion and curiosity.

  • The deadline for application submission is the 28th of March 2024. Acceptance to the program will be announced by the end of April 2024.
  • Applicants will be assessed based on their academic achievements.
  • After acceptance to the program, students will interview with members of the laboratories to find a project.
  • Students will begin to prepare for their project by engaging in background reading, under the guidance of the lab’s PI no later than the 1st of May 2024.
  • Application to the program is through Technion International. Details regarding the application process and the link to apply can be found here.
