Prof. Michael H. Glickman

The Faculty of Biology at the Technion is a vibrant hub for discovery, innovation, and education at the forefront of modern life sciences. As a leading technological university, we foster an interdisciplinary environment where biology converges with engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and artificial intelligence to address fundamental scientific questions and global challenges.

Our students receive rigorous academic training combined with early exposure to research in world-class laboratories. A strong culture of mentorship encourages curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking. Our curriculum provides a solid foundation in molecular and cellular biology, genetics, biochemistry, physiology, evolution, and disease biology, while emphasizing quantitative, computational, and data science skills that are increasingly essential for contemporary biological research. Teaching is by faculty members who are all internationally recognized leaders in their fields. Our alums contribute as innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists, clinicians, and educators worldwide.

Research at the Faculty spans biological organization from molecules to ecosystems. Our investigators apply cutting-edge experimental and computational approaches to advance understanding of health, disease, and the living world. Areas of particular strength include molecular mechanisms, cancer biology, neuroscience, host–pathogen interactions, developmental biology, plant sciences, and biotechnology. We have been quick to expand into emerging frontiers such as AI-driven biology, single-cell and spatial omics, synthetic and systems biology, precision medicine, connectomics (model systems), and bioengineering.

Collaboration (internal and external) lies at the heart of our success. Through partnerships across disciplines, institutions, healthcare systems, and industry, we accelerate the translation of fundamental discoveries into real-world impact.
