The words of Nir Blitz, Faculty of Biology head of the administration :
“Some good news in these difficult times: I’m very pleased to inform you that our faculty has won the Technion’s annual safety award.
Here are some of the kind words written by Prof. Yaron Paz, the Deputy Vice President for Safety Matters, regarding the award:
“The faculty initiates internal safety training days, ensures the presence of PIs in all safety training, follows each safety demand to correct any safety faults in the research labs, and invests time and resources to show how a faculty’s safety environment can be dramatically changed for the better.”This award is the result of the efforts of many faculty members, and we must show our appreciation:
First, I would like to thank our former and current PIs who took on the important role of being academically responsible for safety, Prof. Yoav Arava and Dr. Assaf Bester. Their leadership and high standards for safety education in our faculty were major factors that led us to receive this award.
We thank our safety trustees, Dr. Shirly Larom and Gil Dotan, who translate safety education into practice and have dedicated many hours to making our faculty safer.
Each month, we have a safety committee that raises issues concerning safety matters, helps solve them, and promotes a long-term vision for creating a safer environment. I would like to thank Dr. Oded Kleifeld and Dr. Amir Argoetti, who participated in those committees and shared their great knowledge to help us with all safety tasks.
Special thanks to the Technion’s Safety Unit and its director, Dr. Adi Khen-Guterman, as well as the former and current safety unit coordinators at our faculty, Ilanit Podim-Yuval and Dr. Naama Ivanir. Their guidance and care in ensuring safety regulations were vital in leading our faculty to this great achievement.
Last but not least, I would like to thank all faculty members, PIs, lab managers, research staff, students, and our administrative and maintenance staff. This award is a team effort, and your cooperation with all safety demands is what makes our faculty safer and more pleasant.
As a result, the Dean and I have decided that the prize funds will be used to sponsor an inclusive faculty special event in appreciation of all of you.
