Bioconvergence integrates biology with engineering, computation, materials science, and physics, enabling the development of powerful platform technologies with applications across a wide range of domains, including healthcare, energy, manufacturing, environment, and agriculture.
This seminar will present the vision and rationale behind Israel’s National Bioconvergence Program, which aims to leverage Israel’s multidisciplinary research strengths to advance this emerging field. As a concrete use case, the seminar will draw on a recent study conducted by the Israel Innovation Authority that examined the potential of bioconvergence technologies to address diverse climate challenges. The session will present the study’s methodology and key insights, including a mapping of technologies to diverse application areas. Real-world applications will be showcased, highlighting the role of academia in building a resilient, innovation-driven ecosystem.
